Montage Health earns 2022 American Hospital Association (AHA) Dick Davidson NOVA Award

Montage Health and Salinas Valley Memorial Healthcare System received the American Hospital Association (AHA) Dick Davidson NOVA Award, a prestigious award from the American Hospital Association for their collaborative work to address the Diabetes threat in our community. The Award was presented at the AHA Leadership Summit conference, held July 17–19.
The AHA Dick Davidson NOVA Award recognizes hospitals and health systems for their collaborative efforts toward improving community health status, through healthcare, economic or social initiatives. Honorees participate in joint efforts among health care systems or hospitals, or among hospitals and other community leaders and organizations.
This year’s Dick Davidson NOVA award honorees are leading with innovative and collaborative programs to address many of our nation’s most pressing health challenges. Working together these hospitals and health systems are creating healthier communities and increasing well-being for their neighbors.

In Monterey County 1-in-8 people have diabetes. A staggering half of all adults in the county have prediabetes. To address the diabetes crisis in the area, Montage Health and Salinas Valley Memorial Healthcare System joined forced and launched the Diabetes Collaborative. The initiative focuses on awareness, screening, workshops, education and free customized wellness coaching for adults and children, and has successfully brought together schools, restaurants, faith-based organizations and policy makers to reach the community and lower diabetes rates in Monterey County.
