Community Health Needs Assessment

Learn about the health, behaviors, and needs of your neighbors on the Monterey Peninsula and in Monterey County. Review the latest Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA), which Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula commissioned to see how we and other organizations can best serve the health of our region. This assessment is conducted every three years.

Goals the CHNA supports

Area residents like you benefit from our use of the assessment as a tool to work toward three goals:

  • Improve health, lifespan, and quality of life: In a healthy community, you not only have little physical and mental illness. You also enjoy a high quality of life.
  • Reduce health disparities: By gathering data on demographics, health status, and behavior, we can identify populations most at risk for diseases and injuries. Our community can then plan ways to combat socioeconomic barriers to health and wellness.
  • Increase access to preventive services: More-accessible preventive services will support the first goal, as well as lower costs of caring for late-stage diseases resulting from a lack of preventive care.
