Chris Pareja

  • Personal trainer

Chris was born and raised in Monterey, graduating from Monterey High School in 2013. He attended California State University, Monterey Bay, (CSUMB), earning a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology and attained his personal trainer certification from the American College of Sports Medicine.

Growing up, Chris spent school lunch breaks playing outside with friends and doing various activities and sports. He connected with soccer and played throughout high school and, afterward, in a men’s league. This interest in sports led Chris to consider careers that could better his understanding and performance in sport.

While interning for two physical therapy clinics, he became interested in general health and fitness, leading him to kinesiology and personal training.

He started coaching in college and has coached all age groups. He has served as head coach for the Monterey Surf Soccer Club U9/10 and Seaside High School boys' teams, and as assistant coach for the Monterey Peninsula College men's team and Monterey Bay Football Club's second team. He looks at coaching as teaching and applies the same philosophy to training, to help people understand their body and be able to improve themselves in a safe and holistic way to get their best results.
