Building the future of cancer care in Monterey County

Monterey County cancer patients should have access to exceptional cancer care close to home. We’re building on the quality care already available through the Bodine Comprehensive Cancer Center at Montage Health’s Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula with a long-term effort to expand access to advanced treatment, clinical trials, screening, and whole-person care.

Expand access to cancer care

Increase capacity for high-level, high-quality cancer screening, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up care to reach more people throughout Monterey County.

Advance specialty care

Invest in technology, clinical expertise, clinical trials, and strategic collaborations that bring more specialized care and treatment options to local patients.

Support the whole person

Strengthen care navigation, survivorship support, and other services that help patients and families manage the practical, emotional, and social challenges that accompany cancer.

Inspired by Murray Bodine

Murray Bodine experienced firsthand the difference coordinated cancer care close to home can make. His gratitude for the care he received at Montage Health grew into determination to help more people in Monterey County receive quality treatment and strong support without having to travel far from the people and community they know.

With support from his village of family and friends, Bodine helped raise $14 million through Montage Health Foundation to strengthen cancer care at Montage Health. That gift kickstarted a new chapter for cancer care in Monterey County that includes expanding services, increasingly advanced care and facilities, and continuing developments that are fundamentally changing how cancer care is delivered close to home.

Infusion center with healthcare professionals

Expanded, renovated infusion center — Our upgraded and expanded infusion center creates more capacity for chemotherapy and other cancer and non-cancer infusion treatments, along with additional space, privacy, and comfort for patients.

Second linear accelerator in cancer infusion center

Second linear accelerator — A second linear accelerator will expand our capacity to provide advanced radiation therapy locally, helping more patients receive timely treatment close to home.

Clinical trials nurse navigator — A dedicated clinical trials nurse navigator helps patients explore novel treatment opportunities, understand eligibility and participation, and coordinate with their cancer care team.
