School-based mental fitness

Ohana partners with Monterey County schools to provide in-school mental fitness programs including skill-building groups, discussion groups, classroom presentations, and presentations for parents.

Mental fitness groups for students

Small skill-building groups (12 students or less) where students learn about resilience, stress management (including challenges and benefits of stress), and skills to manage overwhelm and anxiety

Classroom presentations/discussions

Talks that educate students about mental health topics including:

Social-emotional learning (SEL) community circles

Small or classroom-wide SEL discussions are usually held in a circle format and students are encouraged to share thoughts and feelings to help build a stronger sense of community and connection. Teachers participate so they can connect with their students and learn how to facilitate on their own.

Mental fitness for parents

In-person and online presentations about youth mental health topics including:

  • Mental fitness habits, such as sleep and social connection
  • Early warning signs of anxiety and depression
  • Drug and alcohol prevention
  • Suicide prevention
