Meet the team

At Ohana, you’re never navigating your child’s mental health journey alone. You have a team of compassionate providers — therapists, psychiatrists, and other specialists — working together with you.

One team dedicated to mental fitness and wellness

Your child or teen deserves a team approach to care. That’s what Ohana offers.

Our expert youth mental health providers work in our group treatment rooms, outpatient clinics, and residential treatment center to prioritize mental fitness and wellness.

We communicate, coordinate, and collaborate every step of the way. Our team shares insights, refines care plans, and learns from one another. This is how we provide the best possible support for your family.

Types of professionals at Ohana

We think delivering the best mental health care requires a diverse group of expert thinkers. This includes psychiatrists, pediatric clinical psychologists, child therapists, and occupational therapists.

Advanced practice professionals (APPs)

APPs, such as nurse practitioners and physician assistants, are trained to prescribe medications and perform other services under the oversight of a doctor.

Child psychiatrists

These are doctors with special training to diagnose and treat psychiatric illnesses in youth and young adults. Child psychiatrists can prescribe medications and check for other medical conditions that can affect mood, thinking, and behavior. They're also often involved in diagnostic evaluations and ongoing treatment at Ohana.

Family care managers

These professionals have a master's degree in social work or a related field. They connect parents with community or Ohana services.

Medical assistants

These professionals support the work of your child’s healthcare team.

Occupational therapists

These rehabilitation professionals help children, teens, and young adults rebuild skills or learn new ways to do daily tasks.

Therapists

These professionals have a master’s or doctoral degree in psychology or an associated field. They also have additional training in evidence-based treatments, such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT).

Led with psychiatric expertise

Dr. Susan Swick leads the Ohana team as executive director. A clinical psychiatrist who specializes in pediatric and adolescent behavioral health, Dr. Swick is an expert in evidence-based and family-centered care.
