Pregnancy and postpartum mental health care
Becoming a parent is a life-changing experience. And it can stir up all kinds of feelings, not just joy. Whether you’re planning to grow your family, expecting a baby, or adjusting to life with your newborn, your mental health matters.
At Ohana, our mission is to help parents feel better with expert, compassionate care. Because when you’re supported, your baby thrives too. You never have to worry alone.
Services we offer
Pregnancy and parenting look different for everyone. We’ll help find the mental health support that feels right for you during this important time.
Perinatal psychiatry
Our psychiatrist offers compassionate mental health care tailored to women in the journey from pre-conception to expecting, and new motherhood. Your comfort and choices are always at the center.
We offer virtual appointments to make care as easy and accessible as possible. When it comes to treatment, there’s no one-size-fits-all approach. Instead, we talk through your options together, including whether medication feels right for you. You’ll receive a safe, personalized care plan that aligns with your needs and values.
Our goal is to support you through this chapter and help transition care when you’re ready. You’re welcome to reach out directly to schedule an appointment. Or you can ask your obstetrician or pediatrician for a referral. If you’re in crisis or facing a more severe situation, we’ll help connect you to emergency care.
Therapy connections
While we don’t offer in-house therapy, we can help with referrals to trusted therapists who specialize in perinatal mental health.
Care management
As you prepare for discharge from the Family Birth Center, our team offers care management support for eligible families who may be at increased risk for postpartum depression. This service includes several check-in calls to offer support and connect you with helpful resources. It’s an extra layer of care designed to help you feel confident as you adjust to life with your new baby.
Classes
Education is a powerful part of prevention and healing. Our free classes and workshops cover topics that help build mental fitness for you and your child. They’re open to anyone — you don’t need to be a patient to attend.
Groups for new and expecting parents
We know that parenting can be overwhelming at first. Sometimes, it may even feel lonely. Our support groups are safe, welcoming spaces where you can connect and build friendships with others who understand.

What is perinatal mental health care?
“Perinatal” refers to the period before, during, and after pregnancy, including the first months or years of your child’s life. It’s a time filled with big changes — physical, social, and emotional. We understand how closely your pregnancy and mental health can connect. Our team is here to support you through it all.
A big part of what we do at Ohana is helping children thrive. One of the best ways to do that is by caring for the people who love them most. We created this program to give parents in our community access to the mental health support you deserve.
Don’t worry alone, get expert help
Mental health support during pregnancy and postpartum can make a real difference for you and your baby. Our team uses evidence-based approaches rooted in understanding how parent-child connections shape a child’s emotional future.
We’re big believers in early support. The sooner you get help, the better you and your family can feel. And support doesn’t always mean formal treatment. Social connection, support groups, and education can be just as powerful for your well-being.
But we know how easy it is to set your own needs aside when you’re caring for a new baby. That’s why we focus on whole-person support. We’ll help you build healthy routines around sleep, nutrition, and getting back out into the world.
When to get help
If you’re wondering whether to reach out, it’s probably the right time. Asking for help is never something to feel guilty or ashamed about. In fact, it’s one of the kindest things you can do for yourself and your family.
We’re here with support if you:
- Feel detached from your experiences or emotions
- Feel down, hopeless, or overwhelmed most days
- Have difficulty bonding with your baby
- Have thoughts of harming yourself or feel like you or your family aren’t safe
- Have trouble eating or sleeping
- Struggle with worry, panic, or racing thoughts
It’s never too early to get help. Even if you’re not sure what you need yet, we’ll help you figure it out.
