What are the major benefits of group therapy?

Support groups

Our offerings may change based on what people in our community need most. We often provide support groups for:

Group therapy offers something different from individual treatment. It adds connection, shared understanding, and real-life perspectives to the healing process.

You may feel unsure at first. That’s OK. Participating in a group can seem like a big step. We’ll guide you through what to expect and help you ease in at your own pace. With time, many people find it helps them feel less alone in what they’re dealing with.

Benefits of group therapy in addiction recovery

Group therapy is a key part of substance use disorder recovery. The Recovery Center offers multiple levels of group-based care:

  • Treatment groups: Work on reducing substance use and building skills to handle triggers in healthier ways
  • Aftercare groups: Meet weekly for a year after treatment, so you have a steady place to check in and talk through challenges
  • Alumni groups: Provide long-term community and peer support

Will insurance cover group therapy costs?

Depending on the support you need and your coverage, Montage Health has options — many that are free to the community or covered by insurance. Coverage depends on your insurance plan. Most group sessions work like other therapy visits, so you’ll usually have a copay. If you’re not sure what your plan covers, our team will review your benefits and explain any costs upfront.

Mental health and wellness classes

Montage Health offers a wide-range of mental and emotional wellness classes — including support groups for anxiety, bipolar disorder, and depression, skills‑based therapy groups such as DBT, MBCT, and mindfulness for rest and self‑care, plus specialized offerings like a resilience workshop for new parents, all designed to help build coping skills, strengthen emotional resilience, and connect with supportive community. Some classes run for a set number of weeks, while others are ongoing.
