Two million brain cells die every minute during a stroke. The faster intravenous (IV) thrombolytic therapy (medication that dissolves the clot that's causing the stoke) is given, the better the outcome.

*As compared to all (nationwide) hospitals in the American Heart/Stroke Association Get with the Guidelines (GWTG) database. GWTG is a program that ensures continuous quality improvement of stroke treatment and ischemic stroke prevention. The program aims to help ensure that eligible patients are initiated on guideline-recommended therapies and receive appropriate counseling prior to hospital discharge.
