How eVisits work and what to expect

Complete a Montage Health online eVisit at any time, no appointment needed. Just fill out a short survey and expect a response from a helpful professional within a few hours.

Technology requirements

Access eVisit from any web-enabled smartphone, tablet, laptop, or desktop computer. To make sure your data is secure and that you have the best possible experience, use the latest version of one of the following web browsers:

  • Google Chrome
  • Mozilla Firefox
  • Apple Safari
  • Microsoft Edge

If needed, you can download Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox for free.

Step 1: online symptom survey

After you set up or log in to your secure account, you’ll start your eVisit by answering a series of online questions about how you’re feeling, just as you would during an in-office visit.

The number of questions you have to answer depends on your symptoms. You may be asked to provide a photo to help us make an accurate diagnosis. Completing the survey takes most people about 5 to 15 minutes.

Step 2: clinician review

Benefit from the expertise of the same trusted, board-certified professionals you’d see if you visited a Montage Health clinic in person. Within an hour after you submit your answers, they’ll be reviewed by a Montage Medical Group or United Concierge Medicine (UCM) doctor, nurse practitioner, or physician assistant.

Your clinician will diagnose your symptoms and provide a treatment plan, which may include a prescription for you to fill at your preferred pharmacy.

Step 3: your treatment plan

Expect a notification by email or text message when your treatment plan is ready. Most eVisit users receive a message from their clinician within an hour.

What if you can’t treat my condition?

Though we’ll do our best to meet your needs, we can’t treat every condition through an eVisit. If this is the case, you won’t be charged for your eVisit, and we’ll tell you where to go to get the right type of care.

What if I need a prescription?

Depending on your diagnosis, your clinician may prescribe medication as part of your treatment plan. You’ll receive a link to send the prescription to the pharmacy of your choice.

Is eVisit an online pharmacy?

No. Our clinicians are licensed to only write prescriptions. We do not fill (dispense) drugs ourselves. We also aren’t able to order refills for medicines not related to the conditions we treat. We don’t prescribe controlled medications, including pain medication, narcotics, or benzodiazepines.

Will my insurance policy cover my prescription?

To make sure your medication is covered, check that the pharmacy you select is in your covered network before sending your prescription. If needed, change your preferred pharmacy by calling eVisit support at (831) 291-5225.

How much does an eVisit cost?

The cost of an eVisit is $25, similar to a typical insurance co-pay. If your eVisit is related to respiratory symptoms or COVID-19, the cost is free.

Depending on your employer or insurance, you may be eligible for a reduced rate. Check with your employer to see if you qualify.

You’re responsible for the cost of any prescriptions, over-the-counter treatments, or follow-up care you may need.

Payment methods we accept

Choose to pay with a debit or credit card or your health savings account (HSA) card.

Insurance coverage

You may submit your eVisit receipt to your insurance company, but we can’t guarantee you’ll be reimbursed.

Do you accept Medicare?

Medicare patients are welcome to use eVisit. However, your eVisit is not currently reimbursable.

Get the most out of your health benefits

When you set up your eVisit account, be sure to self-identify if you are:

  • Montage Medical Group patient
  • Employee of Montage Health or one of its subsidiaries, such as Community Health Innovations (CHI), Montage Medical Group, Aspire Health Plan, MoGo Urgent Care, or Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula, and you are a Montage Medical Group patient
  • Employee of Montage Health or one of its subsidiaries but not a Montage Medical Group patient

By indicating you’re a member of one of our partner groups, you can maximize your healthcare benefits and may receive a reduced eVisit rate.

Keeping your information secure

eVisit medical records

You can access your eVisit records at any time through your secure account. If you’re a Montage Medical Group patient, your eVisit will also be saved as part of your medical record.

If you want to share your eVisit records with a healthcare provider outside of Montage Medical Group, you can:

  • Print or email your records
  • Call (831) 233-6010 and ask us to send them

Other ways to get care

Some conditions can’t be treated virtually. Get the care that’s right for you and save time and money when you go to the correct setting for your symptoms.

  • Call 911 or go to the Emergency department if you need immediate help for a serious health problem
  • Contact your primary care provider for all of your day-to-day health needs
  • Walk in to a MoGo Urgent Care near you during open hours if your doctor isn’t available or you need quick care for a minor illness or injury
