Christopher Meckel, MD is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon and co-founder of Monterey Spine & Joint, where he is recognized as one of the hip and knee replacement specialists.

Dr. Meckel completed his undergraduate degree in medical anthropology at the University of California at Berkeley and earned his Master of Science degree in the biological sciences from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo. He was a Dean’s Scholar at the University of Southern California (USC) School of Medicine and received his medical doctorate in 1996. He completed a general surgical internship and a residency in orthopedic surgery at the Los Angeles County + USC Medical Center.

After his general training in orthopedics, Dr. Meckel pursued advanced Fellowship training in joint reconstruction at the AOS Medical Center in Glendale, California, where he joined a team of physicians pioneering the latest techniques in anterior total hip replacements and computer-assisted total knee arthroplasty.

With nearly 20 years of experience in joint replacement surgery, his sub-specialty interest has become minimally invasive anterior total hip replacements and computer-assisted knee replacements. He performs nearly three-hundred hip and knee replacements annually.
