Seasonal allergy tips from MoGo Urgent Care

There's just something in the air — pollen. When allergies have you sneezing, itching, and congested, reduce your exposure to pollen and avoid triggering allergy symptoms with these tips from Sabrina Lambert, clinical leader of advanced practice providers at MoGo Urgent Care.

Seasonal allergy tips

  • Stay informed: Keep track of pollen forecasts and try to stay indoors during high pollen days, especially during peak pollen times in the morning and evening
  • Seal your home: Keep your windows closed during pollen season or peak pollen times. Use air conditioning with a HEPA filter to reduce pollen entry into your home

  • Shoe-free zone: Remove your shoes before entering your home to prevent tracking pollen inside

  • Pet care: Wipe off furry animals when they come inside or bathe them weekly (if appropriate) to remove any pollen they may carry

  • Dry laundry indoors: Dry laundry in a clothes dryer or on an indoor rack, not on an outdoor line, to avoid pollen clinging to fabric

  • Cover up: When outdoors, wear sunglasses and a wide-brimmed hat to protect your eyes and face from pollen

  • Shower before bed: Shower before bed to keep pollen out of your bedding

  • Sleep environment: Use allergen-proof covers for bedding and pillows to reduce pollen exposure while sleeping
